The Philippines is a treasure trove of captivating culture and jaw-dropping natural beauty. However, perhaps our most alluring qualities reside in our people – the kind and generous everyday Filipino. Unfortunately, poverty runs rampant in our country. Homeless people in tattered clothes litter the streets, bridges, and sidewalks, pleading with passers-by, “Kuya/Ate, pengeng barya.” More often than not, many of us casually ignore them, but not this senior high school student.

The unidentified senior high school student has received a massive amount of commendations on Facebook after a netizen named Joshua Aquiler shared a video of her feeding a beggar on February 6, 2018.

In the video, the senior high school student not only gave the beggar a meal and a drink. She stayed with him and even fed the less fortunate man.

In the background, you can hear the person who was recording the video commending the student, saying, “Bait naman ni ate.”

According to the post, the generous girl is a Senior High School student from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). Joshua captioned the post with an insightful message:

“Casual lang ang araw na dumaan pero nabago ito noong nakasaksi ako ng isang magandang eksena. Kung iisipin niyo, laganap na ang sama sa mundo, pero may mga lilitaw pa rin na siyang may mga mabubusilak na puso. Hay, nakakaganang mabuhay.”

Needless to say, the student’s act of kindness did not go unnoticed. It has amassed almost 3,000 views and more than 3,000 shares as of this writing.
