We usually use ground pepper for cooking. The spice adds that sharp taste to our meals, making it tastier than ever. However, you should probably be careful of buying these pre-ground packets of pepper, especially from small sari-sari stores.
A Facebook page called “Viral Uploads” shared a picture of several packets of ground pepper. According to the caption, one person noticed that the peppercorns seemed ineffective in making his or her meals spicy.
The individual shared (through the page) that he or she has almost used half of a packet. Strangely, the meal’s flavor did not significantly change.
The individual also noticed that the peppercorns seemed grayish in color. If anything, they are supposed to be black. The individual mentioned that he or she became curious.
The netizen sniffed the packet and their surprise discovered it reeked of cigarette ash.
It indicated that the ground pepper might not have been stored in a proper place. Apart from that, the seller might be smoking near the packets of ground pepper.
This made the netizen angry, hence the decision to warn people about buying the mentioned item in sari-sari stores. The individual added that they were certain that the peppercorns smelled like cigarette stubs.
In an angry statement, the individual wrote, “Imagine kumakain ka ng upos ng sigarilyo?”
The post said that it was extremely unhygienic since people get sick from the allegedly affected ground pepper. Towards the end, it also warned food manufacturers to be mindful of selling their products.
