Sometimes, those who have less in life have so much more in their hearts, making the rest of us realize the truly important things in life. In the Bible, it is often emphasized that the poor in material wealth but rich in spirit and faith are more blessed than the wealthy who have forgotten how to thank God for the blessings they receive. This is why netizens are all-praises for this ‘praying beggar’ whose story is now trending on Facebook.

Facebook page Dj Kalogs story posted the original inspiring story of the praying beggar. The post entitled ‘Ang Pulubi at ang Simbahan’ goes like this:

“Minsan di natin pinapansin ang mga pulubi sa mga bangketa, palengke at sa mga mall na dumadaan sila. Minsan kapag lumapit sila sa mga may pera, tinataboy sila. Alam nyo ba nasasaktan din sila at may puso din sila. Minsan may lumapit sakin ang isang pulubi. Sabi sakin, “kuya pahingi ako ng pambili ng pagkain” so binigyan ko muna siya ng 100 pesos tapos bibilhan ko ng pagkain na malapit sakin. Pagkuha ko ng pagkain, bigla siyang nawala sa tabi ko.

The netizen who wrote this story goes on to say that he/she passes by Cubao Avenue close to the MRT for the following days. One beggar came up to the person who wrote this status and they realized it was the same homeless man. He asked for alms once again and the netizen gave him PHP100. He also told the beggar, “hintayin mo ako at bibilhan kita ng pagkain”. However, the poor man had vanished once he returned with some food.

The story continued:

Mga ilang araw dumaan ako sa Church, may lumapit sakin. ” kuya pahingi ng pambili ng pagkain”. So binigyan ko ulit siya ng pera. Napalingon ako sa may simbahan at naisip ko na magsisimba ako pero nawala na naman ang pulubi sa tabi ko. Pag punta ko ng simbahan. Dun ko siya nakita sa loob ng simbahan at nakaluhod siya sa harap ng altar. Para magpasalamat at ibahagi ang binibigay kong pera sa simbahan. Buti pa siya nagsisimba. Eh ikaw kaya nagsisimba?”
