A dinosaur is one of the most mysterious creatures on earth, partly because their existence can only be confirmed through fossils and bones preserved in soil. According to NTD Television, experts from Canada discovered a “dinosaur mummy” whose bones were very much well-preserved, which is why the source didn’t refer to it as a fossil. Scientists who found out about it touted it the “best-preserved dinosaur on Earth.” The creature was 18 foot in length.

Caleb Brown, a researcher in The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Alberta, Canada, said:

“We don’t just have a skeleton. We have a dinosaur as it would have been.”

The dinosaur’s organs were also reportedly intact. The researchers were amazed at the “unparalleled degree of preservation.” According to Jakob Vinther, a paleontologist from the University of Bristol, it might have been “walking around a couple of weeks ago.” He added, “I’ve never seen anything like this.”

Apparently, the “dinosaur mummy” was first discovered in 2011, when an oil mine employee named Shawn Funk found its bones accidentally during his shift. Researchers studied the bones for six years and around 7,000 hours. They conducted various tests and did preparations to have the bones displayed in the museum.

“Over 100 million years ago, when this ancient prehistoric creature roamed the earth, it was a member of a newly discovered species and genus named the Nodosaur.” “It was a gigantic four-legged herbivore and its body was protected by spiky, plated “armor.” This nodosaur originally weighed around 3,000 pounds (approx. 1361 kg) when it was alive.”

According to the source, the dinosaur still weighed 2,500 pounds, which was approximated to be 1,134 measured in kilograms. Their theory on why the bones are well-preserved is the following:

“The question of how the dinosaur could have remained so intact after it was unearthed still baffles scientists, although according to National Geographic, researchers are putting forth the theory that the creature may have been carried away to sea by a ‘flooded river’ where it sank.” ” As it lay there undisturbed, the armor and skin were replaced by minerals over the course of millions of years.
