Isang Treasure Hunter, nakakita ng isang singsing na pinaniniwalaang ginawa noong 14th Century.

An amateur treasure hunter discovered a hidden treasure in Sherwood Forest, the place best known as the place where the legend of Robin Hood took place. Mark Thompson was strolling around the Nottinghamshire woodland with his metal detector picked up something on its sensors – this medieval ring. It’s estimated that the ring dates back to the 14th century and could be worth a fortune.

Mark was only in Sherwood Forest for about 20 minutes when his metal detector started beeping. This signaled that he had found something. But of course, Mark was only expecting a little trinket or spare change, possibly even metal trash left by someone. So it came as a surprise when he saw gold when he was shoveling the dirt.

According to the treasure hunter:

“I had been out metal detecting with a group for about 20 minutes when I heard the signal. I was really excited when I saw that it was gold, but I didn’trealizee at that point just how significant it might be.”

This discovery turned out to be a piece of ornate jewelry with a sapphire stone embedded on the golden hoop. Mark has reported the find and is still undergoing the process of finding out if his discovery is worth something. The amateur treasure hunter consulted with auctioneers who said that the ring could be worth as much as £70,000 or PHP 4,759,264.33.

Mark is hoping that his find’s appraisal would turn out successful because it would definitely change his life.

“I called my friend who came down to take a look and help see whether there was anything else related nearby. It’s the find of a lifetime – I never expected to unearth anything like that. I’m still in shock when I think about it – it was such an exhilarating moment. If it does prove to be as valuable as we think it might be, it would completely change my life. I’m renting at the moment and I’d love to be able to buy a house or move into somewhere more comfortable.”

Mark is still waiting for the coroner “to set a date for an inquest” to confirm if the medieval ring is a genuine treasure. If it is, there are a lot of museums and experts willing to buy it from Mark.
