Babaeng tumulong sa isang Pasahero na naputulan ng Braso sa MRT, nakatanggap ng Award!

The Kabayan partylist took the initiative to award the heroic deeds of Charleanne Jandic, a medical intern at Chinese General Hospital and PO2 Danilo Agustin of the Eastern Police District (EPD) who’s also a registered nurse, for rescuing the injured Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) passenger Angeline Fernando.
The 24-year-old software engineer got her right arm severed after she fell onto the MRT-3 tracks. Fernando’s severed arm has been successfully reattached at the Makati Medical Center on the following day. Thanks to Jandic and Agustin’s quick action on giving first aid towards the tragic incident, Fernando’s arm was saved.
On November 20, the party-list awarded both of them for their volunteerism and compassion without having a second thought. The two received cash incentives along with plaques of commendation.

Written on the plaque:
“Sa kanyang ipinamalas na kabutihan at pagmamalasakit sa kapwa. Ang kanyang pagtulong sa kapwang nangangailangan nawa ay maging inspirasyon sa bawat Pilipino.”
Jandic humbly accepted the award, despite feeling weird and overwhelmed for the attention she’s currently receiving. According to reports, Jandic looked after the detached arm and requested to have it kept inside an ice-box to keep its muscles at work. She has previously admitted that she only applied her knowledge on what needed to be done at that time.
Charleanne Jandic’s heroism encouraged Kabayan Representative Ron Salo to rename his proposed law, from Emergency Medical Services System Bill to “Charlie Jandic Law.” The bill proposes the creation of permanent emergency responders in every city in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the EPD director Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula said that they would also give citations to their courageous PO2 and to another policeman, PO1 Ramil Almano, for rescuing Fernando.
May Jandic and Agustin, together with other people who helped in rescuing the injured MRT-3 passenger, serve as an inspiration to lend our hands in times of catastrophe.
