Kwento ng isang 12-anyos na babae at 6 na buwang gulang niyang kapatid, dumurog sa puso ng mga netizens!
A mother’s love supposedly knows no equal. It is the mother who carries the child to term. It is the mother who nurses the child. Thus, people expect that it is the mother who would stick by her children no matter what. Unfortunately, that was not the case in this heartwrenching story of two children who were allegedly abandoned by their mother.
On February 5, 2018, photos of two children – a 12-year-old girl and her infant sibling – went viral on Facebook, sparking outrage among concerned netizens. The children were photographed aboard a jeepney in the municipality of Minglanilla, Cebu. The 12-year-old girl was captured on cam carrying her infant sibling. Making things worse, the baby had no clothes on.
The photos were shared by Facebook page Minglanilla Flash Report in the hopes that they attract the attention of social workers who could care for the seemingly abandoned children. The post went viral, with nearly 10,000 reactions and over 7,000 shares as of this writing.
According to the viral Facebook post, the children live somewhere in Sitio Lower Tabucanal, Barangay Poblacion Pardo.
The allegedly abandoned children reportedly have four other siblings.
The post gave an update on the children on February 6. It reads:
“Some concerned citizens have already taken action and given some assistance to this kids.in the form of rice, groceries and clothing.some have invited the two to eat with them in Jollibee Bulacao.”

On February 7, Altea Racuya-Lim, the barangay captain of Poblacion Pardo, summoned the mother of the allegedly abandoned children. The mother, identified as Elena Pepito, was questioned by the barangay captain about her supposed negligence. She vehemently denied the allegations that she abandoned her children.
A netizen named Manuel Jr Reyes Gonzales shared the details of Brgy Captain Racuya-Lim’s conversation with Elena. Read it below.

We hope this story forces us to take a long hard look at how we treat our children. Those of us who are parents are obligated to do our best for our children. No matter the cost.
