MANILA, Philippines— Two days after the festive holiday season, a violent mother found herself celebrating the aftermath of Christmas behind bars after she was caught physically abusing her daughter. Many witnesses were appalled upon seeing this mother throw a violent fit publicly in a condominium building somewhere in Quezon City.

According to a report published by GMA News, the incident happened on Wednesday, December 27. The violent mother allegedly threw a fit after failing to get her pay. Because she failed to get her salary, the mother aimed her frustrations at her young daughter. She was seen tugging on the little girl’s clothes and hitting her repeatedly.

In a video report shared by 24 Oras, the poor child can be seen being dragged around while repeatedly dodging her mother’s blows. However, the little girl’s efforts to free herself was in vain because every time people tried to intervene, the violent mother threatened to stab her. The poor kid was begging onlookers for help.

Soon, more people noticed the ruckus – intervened and managed to set the kid free from her mother’s grip. Local authorities came and detained the woman at Quezon City Police Station 10.

Afterwards, the mother regretted her actions and her uncontrolled bursts of anger. She apologized for the misdemeanor and asked to be released:

“Naawa naman po ako. Wala po akong magagawa dahil sa init ng ulo ko, dala po ng galit ko. Gusto ko lang pong humingi ng sorry sa anak ko, palayain na ako dito,” she was quoted in saying.

But the authorities did not buy her excuse. Apparently, this was not the first time she physically abused her daughter. The poor child relayed to the authorities that her mother used to beat him/her frequently.

Meanwhile, station commander Superintendent Christian dela Cruz informed GMA News that after a brief visit at the National Center for Mental Health, professionals diagnosed the mother with depression.
