In a perfect world, no parent should have to bury their own child. However, things do not always turn out the way they are supposed to, and in cases where a child dies young, it is often a traumatic experience. It’s just too painful for any parent to experience losing the joy in their lives. Just like this grief-stricken father who had to his baby son to rest after a weary battle with an unidentified sickness.

On Facebook, the father wrote a long-winded, heartbreaking letter to express his inexplicable grief over his son’s death. According to him, his son only lived for nine months – the same time he was inside his mother’s womb. He also said that for 82 days, the infant fought for his life with all his strength.

Sadly, it wouldn’t be enough.

The man’s tear-jerking narrative immediately went viral, racking up 35,000 reactions and 1,500 comments as of writing. Moreover, it has been shared nearly 16,000 times on the platform.

Based on the series of photos included in the post, the grieving father recalled the first time his son was admitted in the hospital. He thought they were about to be discharged, but his son suddenly had convulsions. Things quickly turned for the worst when his baby was placed in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of the hospital.

The father recounted the days his son stayed in PICU, saying that the family celebrated their first Noche Buena and New Year’s Eve in the hospital. Despite his son’s declining oxygen and heart rate levels, the baby still bravely fought and kept opening his eyes.

After a few weeks, it looked like hope was lost for the nine-month-old baby. His ventilator was already removed because the baby could no longer breath on his own. The parents instead chose to manually provide ventilation through a bag valve mask, commonly known by its proprietary name “Ambu bag.”

Despite 17 hours of constant monitoring and amidst deteriorating vital signs, the baby no longer woke up. After the painful realization and hopelessness for the past three months, it was then that the parents finally decided to let go of their precious child.
