Nick Vujicic, a famous Australian motivational speaker who was born with no arms and legs, once said:

“Often people ask how I manage to be happy despite having no arms and no legs. The quick answer is that I have a choice. I can be angry about not having limbs, or I can be thankful that I have a purpose. I chose gratitude.”

True enough, many unfortunate people always find themselves blaming others for their misfortunes. Some people, however, choose to make do with what they have, and in doing so, inspire others. One such person is the beautiful Yang Li, a 27-year old woman from Anhui, China. At the age of four, Yang Li had to have both her arms amputated when she accidentally touched a high-voltage wire. Because of this, she only has had only her feet to rely on ever since.

Instead of sulking and isolating herself, however, Yang Li chose to become productive. She learned how to do almost everything with her feet — from writing down her notes, cooking her meals, doing her laundry, typing on the computer, and even taking a selfie! Despite the fact that she has no arms, she studied very hard and managed to get a high grade in the college entrance exam of Anhui Agricultural University. She managed to graduate and is now working as a civil service officer.

In a video compilation that has been making its rounds online, Yang Li can be seen doing a number of things using only her feet. She can play online games, use the computer, use her cellphone, peel fruits, feed herself, dress herself, and cook her own meals, among others. In all the clips, Yang Li could be seen smiling. The fact that she does not have arms goes easily unnoticed because of her smile. She even made a livestream video using a selfie stick attached to her neck! In an interview with Asia One, she said, “A disabled person’s life can be quite simple and dull, but I can meet and make many friends through livestreams.”

Yang Li indeed is an inspiration, not only to those with disabilities, but to everyone as well. As they always say, don’t let what you can’t do interfere with what you can do.
