Ang Tunay na "LODHI PETMALU" natagpuan na!

Given that the Philippines is one of the happiest countries in the world, its people are also creative when it comes to spontaneous humor. We, Filipinos, despite all the negativity that first come to mind when we think of our country’s current issues, take pride in this remarkable quality apart from our caring and hospitable traits.
One of the current trends in the country is the reversing of colloquial terms (often referred to as Tadbaliks, which is either the reversal of the whole word by the letter or the syllables, similar to Pig Latin in English) though this was already a thing in the past. The history tells us that the national hero Marcelo H. Del Pilar’s pen name “Plaridel” was his surname stylized in Tadbaliks.

This craze also ran during the 70s to the 90s pop culture. It was even accordingly called “Baliktad Tagalog” and the “Hippie” culture reportedly started it all. Also, there are many other Filipino terms that are spoken in reverse and are still prevalent such as the song “Bogchi Hokbu” or “Chibog Buhok” of the Eraserheads, Sampaguita’s “Nosi Balasi” (meaning “Sino Ba Sila”), and Mike Hanopol’s “Laki sa Layaw” which featured the term “jeprox” or “projects.”

But fret not as this trend actually has a positive outcome. According to the reports, this fad actually indicates that the Filipino language is still alive despite the strong influences of foreign countries.

Meanwhile, the current most used reversed terms today are “lodi” or “petmalu,” meaning “idol” and “malupet,” respectively. To our surprise, there is actually a person whose legal name is “Lodhi Petmalu.” This information was taken from the Instagram page of the celebrity radio jock DJ Chacha. She published an ID of the man and it was then discovered that he is a Pakistani.
