Being homeless carries with it a lot of hardships. You are in a constant state of worry about how you’re going to get through the day. What will you eat? Where would you sleep? Will things ever change? In those desperate times, you could be forced to do things you’d rather not do in order to survive.
In Thailand, a poor, homeless man named Waralop went above and beyond everyone’s expectations and committed an honest deed.
When Waralop, a man in desperate need of money, found a Hermes wallet containing $578 (around PHP 30,000) along with a credit card, he could have just kept the money and bought whatever he needed. In fact, the owner wasn’t even aware that he had lost his wallet.
However, instead of keeping the money for himself, Waralop dropped the wallet off at a police station to make sure that its owner gets it back. The wallet’s owner, Niity Pongkriangyos, was made aware that his lost wallet has just been returned.

Pongkriangyos was not only surprised to realize that he had lost his wallet but was even more surprised that it was returned to him. He said that if he was in the homeless man’s position, he would have spent the money. Pongkriangyos said:
“I was totally surprised when the police told me they had my wallet as I didn’t even know I’d lost it. If it was me in that position with no money I probably would have kept it.“

Because of his honesty, Waralop was offered a job at Pongkriangyos’ factory along with a place to live. Tarika Patty, Pongkriangyos’ girlfriend, posted the story of Waralop’s honesty on social media. She shared that Waralop has been roaming the streets and often slept at the Huay Kwang MRT station. Tarika also accompanied Waralop to a store to buy new clothes and other necessities. Waralop was given a new life all because of one good, honest deed.
